The chakras create an energy system that moves throughout our bodies and affects our mental, physical, and emotional well-being. When chakras are underactive, overactive, or blocked it influences us on not just a spiritual or emotional level but can manifest as dis-ease in the body. Thankfully there are ways we can become conscious of and work with our chakras to be more alive with vitality.
The Sacral Chakra, or the Svadisthana, is orange in color and is located about two inches below the navel. It relates to our emotions and feelings and represents our capacity to accept change and feel creative. The Sacral Chakra reveals our capacity to be comfortable with our sexuality. People with healthy sacral chakras allow feelings to flow freely, expressing themselves without being under or over-emotional. They live passionately, and are open to intimacy, having no problems with their sexuality.

Signs Of An Underactive Sacral Chakra:
Emotional issues that will affect our sacral chakra include our sense of well-being and pleasure. People who are not comfortable being open around other people fear pleasure, lack desire, have low libido, or feel the need to constantly wear a poker face often have an underactive sacral chakra.
Signs Of An Overactive Sacral Chakra:
Those with an overactive sacral chakra tend to become emotionally attached and clingy. This often leads to toxic relationships. They can suffer from anxiety, be aggressive, or be overconsumed by their emotions. An Overactive Sacral Chakra will also manifest as hypersexuality.
Manifestations Of Sacral Chakra Imbalances:
The Sacral Chakra connects to the Hypogastric Plexus. Dysfunction in the Sacral Chakra can manifest physically as lower back pain or stiffness, circulatory system problems, urinary, and bladder infections, eating disorders, alcohol, and other substance abuse problems, as well as depression, Women may experience menstrual issues, and men can manifest prostate problems as well as other reproductive issues.
There are many different ways that you can open or balance your sacral chakra. Taste is the sense of the sacral chakra so savor your foods, enjoying their flavor without rushing. Oranges, cantaloupe, and any type of nut will nourish this chakra. Eat with your hands when possible!
Movement is important too! Exercise, hula hooping, and dancing like no one is watching will help move the energy of the Sacral. If you don't have much time, safely do the butt jig to your favorite music while on your way to work or traveling!
